83%, bitches & hoes!

i have never--okay, only once--been so proud of a B- (C+ depending on your scale).

the survey that came between the end of the exam and me finding out my score was so long that i was somehow sure i had failed by the end of it--if that makes any sense.

anyway, i was so excited to have passed (pathetic) that i felt the need to mention it somewhere (also pathetic) to people who might care (one never knows). how'd you do? if you did at all, that is. the due date was today...or yesterday, but they don't seem like they'll be terribly strict with that.

well, as you respond i'll be off reading the iliad...or watching cartoons.

The Odyssey's so much BETTER, I agree. I like the Iliad, though. And both of them are better than the Aeneid, because Aeneas is the most boring mythic hero ever, with the exception of perhaps Beowulf, who is probably the most simplistic archetype I've ever read.
I like my protagonists with FAULTS.

it's not that he was boring, really, aeneas was just stupid. he spends half the damn thing standing agape.

you know what--i totally bullshat my way through the aeneid section of my western european cultural studies class last year, and i still found this hilarious.

:snork: This is true. But also - none of his problems were ever his own fault, which was annoying. It was like, "Oh the gods!" this and "I wish I had died in Troy!" that. Odysseus and Achilles at least made mistakes that they had to fix in the end.

So BORING. Didn't help that I did it in 3 hours, so I felt like I'd been sedated by the droning voice and the course's need to imply that kids who choose to abstain come from families with alcoholics. I was also kind of annoyed that the course seemed to assume we were either abstaining from alcohol, drinkers in denial, or drinkers who felt the need to change. The entire thing left a bad taste in my mouth. At least it was better than the DARE program, though.
(Pardon my bitterness - I had to do one of these things to get my learner's permit and it's just annoying, because I like a glass of wine with dinner occasionally, but there was never a choice for that. Meh. Thbbbbbbt on AlcoholEdu.)

after every half hour on alcohol edu i blink and find myself having somehow taken a 2.5 - 6 hour nap.

shame shame shame.

and rather than reply to both of your comments, i will just say here: GOOD POINT about beowulf.

Thankyou! (I felt a little pretentious writing the comment, but it's nice to know I'm at least not alone.)

+1. I kept looking for that same "occasional glass of wine" option too, but no shades of gray for AlcoholEdu, I guess. Apparently my family is made of raging alcoholics/religious freaks, and I didn't even know about it. Thanks, AlEd.

(And I completely agree on Beowulf, too--put me to sleep.)

i got a 75% the first time, i admit. i took it again without looking at what i'd done wrong and got an 85% and since it wasn't really a grade i left it at that. huzzah.

Uhh .... 83% is a B-?!
For A-Levels, anything above 80% is an A.
